Hi. I'm the person behind Ten Little Paintings — and no, you won't find my name here. Think of me as the artist in the back room, hunched over a magnifying glass, painting a tiny bowl of ramen onto something roughly the size of a sunflower seed.
The short story: I trained as a fine artist. For years my canvas was big — the lose-track-of-time, paint-in-my-hair, forget-to-eat kind of big. Somewhere along the way I got curious about how small I could go instead, and it turned out the answer was "about the size of a fingernail." I've been happily obsessed ever since.
Everything here is painted by hand, one nail at a time, from a little studio in Wisconsin. No machines, no printing, no team — just me, a steady hand, and an unreasonable amount of patience for detail. When you order, you're not grabbing something off a shelf; you're getting a set made start to finish by an actual human who cares a weird amount about whether the tiny cherry looks right.
That's also why I keep it small. I take on a limited number of clients at a time, because the best part of this is getting to know the people I paint for — your taste, your colors, the things you love — until I can practically read your mind. A painting on a wall waits for you to come see it. These come with you. You are the gallery.
A few things about me, since we're going to be friends:
My studio assistant is a dog named Percy. He contributes nothing and I adore him.
I will happily paint your weirdest idea. The weirder, the better.
I believe there's no such thing as "too much" — only "not cured yet."
My morning drink is a personality trait at this point.
I'd rather make ten people something unforgettable than a thousand people something fine.
Sound like your kind of thing? Come say hi — let's make you something tiny, a little ridiculous, and completely yours.
